MSc Psychotherapy, PGDip Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, MBBS, BA(Hons) Cantab
For many years I worked in a variety of NHS settings supporting people with both their physical and mental health needs. Over time I decided to focus on mental health and retrained as a psychotherapist. I currently work part time at a university supporting both undergraduates and postgraduates with the issues arising from the stresses of that transitional stage of their lives. These younger clients have a variety of often complex needs in the aftermath of living through covid during key stages of their development, as well as the normal challenges of leaving home. In my private practice I also work with older adults including those in their retirement years. I hold a strong belief there is no upper age limit to receiving therapy. I work with adults over the age of 18.

I initially trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. This is an approach which recognises the importance of a meaningful, yet boundaried relationship between the therapist and the client. In this type of therapy we will consider how events from the past can colour perceptions of current relational issues, and consider when habitual issues might be considered from another perspective.  I also introduce psychoeducational tools and mindfulness techniques when appropriate. This can be particularly helpful when there are strong feelings of anxiety . In our early sessions we will work together to identify the focus for our work together so that my approach can be focussed on your specific needs.
