Niall Maclellan
I am a qualified Relationship Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor, with 25 years' experience. Before setting up my private practice, I provided counselling and clinical supervision at Relate Centres across Sussex from 1996 to 2021. Relate was an accredited organisation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as a registered member I work within the BACP Code of Ethics.
I work with individual adults and couples seeking help with a range of issues, including:
- Understanding your partner better to improve your relationship
- Resolving disagreements and conflicts
- Inter-cultural relationships
- Sexual issues
- The challenges of parenting
- Extended family issues
- Work-related stressors and the impact on relationships
- Coping with life changes and dealing with loss
- Affairs
- Anticipating separation and relationship breakdown
- Problems in forming relationships.
My approach is flexible and responsive, informed by psychodynamic understanding, along with a behavioural focus - according to individual needs. It can be helpful to look at past experiences and identify patterns of relating, in order to better understand your current situation and find ways of moving forward.
My practice is anti-discriminatory: I am committed to hearing the unique stories of each person, and to respecting and celebrating differences such as ethnicity and sexual orientation.
The first step is an initial consultation to see if we can work together. Please get in touch if you would like to make an appointment.
